Welcome to Taranaki Dragons Inc.

Whether you’re a familiar face or joining us for the first time, we’re thrilled to have you as part of our team for the 2025/26 season. This year, we’re committed to more than just paddling—we’re embracing health and fitness, building camaraderie, fostering inclusion, and creating a true sense of belonging for everyone.

The 2025/2026 Taranaki Dragons season runs from 1st September 2025 to 31st August 2026.
Full season Club membership $85.00 per person.
Half season for new members $43.00 per person (April 2026 to August 2026)

Terms & Conditions

By agreeing to these terms and conditions you agree to abide by the terms of the NZDBA Safety Management Plan and the Taranaki Dragons Inc. (TD Inc.) Constitution.

You are confirming:

  • You are 12 years of age or older
  • You are able to swim at least 50m in paddling clothing
  • You understand that you must wear an appropriately sized and fitted personal floatation device (PFD) / NZS certified life jacket (minimum 50N) at all training and regatta events
  • You will not be under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs while dragon boating
  • You will pay the required club membership fee, after which you will become a financial member of Taranaki Dragons Inc.
  • You have read and understood the TD Inc. Code of Conduct
  • You understand that, whilst dragon boating is a safe sport, there is risk involved and all measures will be taken by TD Inc. to minimise these risks. However, should you feel unsafe at any time it is your responsibility to advise the Sweep or Captain
  • You have received a safety briefing which explains the capsize procedure (this is included in the NZDBA Safety Management Plan)
  • You understand that the Sweep is responsible for the safety of the boat and all persons on board at all times, and team members must follow all directions from the Sweep
  • At any event you will obey the instructions of the safety boat officer, race controller/starter
  • You will treat any club equipment, boats, life jackets and paddles as precious items that are there for the good of the whole paddling community.
  • You understand that at any time you must advise the Sweep, Team Captain or Health and Safety Officer of any change in medical conditions, or any safety related matter
  • You understand that any images captured at training or events may be used on social media and on the club website
  • You wish to receive correspondence from TD Inc. by email, via the club WhatsApp group or text 
  • You understand that TD Inc. is a club that is run by volunteers and your assistance may be called on to volunteer to assist the club. Any team funds that are held by you from fundraising are to be held in a transparent fashion for the TD Inc. Committee
  • I acknowledge that my full membership must be approved by the Committee.

SAFETY WAIVER: 
By participating, I do so at my own risk. No organiser, sponsor or TD Inc. will be liable in any way or accept responsibility for any injury, loss, damage or expense suffered or incurred by any dragon boat team member during training, racing or in any other way with my participation as a team member of TD Inc.

Submitting this document is a Condition of Participation and a personal acknowledgement that no claim can be made and that I agree to be bound by these rules.
